What War!

I understand that our Secretary of Defense(oops, I mean War.) leads worship and prayers in the pentagon. Ah yes; and people say you can't go back. The good old days do come back. Remember the Crusades and the Old Testament. There is nothing like a Holy War to wet the appetite and get the juices flowing. Some unit commanders are telling their troops that this war in Iran is a Holy war. True it may have some holes in the overall plan but, hey, nobody's perfect. Pete is do

Grandkids

Grandchildren are, well, grand.  Grandparents not so much.                     Children, in general, are a good thing until they aren’t.                                                    Oh Golly, they’re always a good thing. It's that the warm fuzzy part at the beginning only goes, at the max, 15 years.  Now I realize for some it ends sooner and, on a rare occasion, it lasts longer.

vomit

I’m kind ‘a different from most people I know.  I don’t throw up. Y’a know, Vomit.                                                                                                                                                                Now, of course not never.  But, I will spend a lot of time and concentration on not doing that.   Everybody says, “Let it out.”  Of course, no one likes it, but it makes you feel so much b

White Supremacy

You know; A good rule of thumb, when out in nature, is to avoid touching or ingesting anything that is white.  Generally, we’re talking about fungus, berries, mushrooms, tree rot, or white supremacists.  That sort of thing. When going to a paint store, folks usually want a color other than white for their decorating needs.  So, they add other colors in various amounts to a white base to create the color they want.  Kind ‘a like sunbathing but more long lasting without the cre

overpopulation and lack of potable water

Overpopulation and lack of potable water have been the two most pressing problems for the whole world for a long time.  I know there’re personal issues that seem much more important to the average citizen but many of those issues are caused by these two problems. I’ll bet you thought it was greed or racism.  Oh, Ok. You got me there.  They do have a lot to do with many of our problems, but population and water will overtake them too. Well, I think our present government has f

I'd rather be dumb

It is strange how individuals and small groups of people, when left alone, can figure out how to do stuff. They can create new ways of doing things. They can give us clearer understanding of the world around us. I'm not demeaning education as we know it today, but most of the basic premises that we base education on were discovered by individuals who were just curious. Let's face it, cur

Politicians; Maga; Epstein:

P- If you're waiting for a politician to change your life, you really don't understand how all this works. Unless there's an elected position out there that only requires one vote, no government job at any level, is just aimed at fixing your life. At the smallest level of government there are usually several people served by any elected officer. Even if you live in a community of ten there will be someone unhappy with any decision at any given time. So, if you extrapola

Bullet Proof Glass

I've been thinking of bullet proof glass for my car. I've never actually driven to an ongoing protest of an immigration raid, but since many of the people who are targeted just speak with an accent; you never know. Hell, I've got neighbors from various linguistic backgrounds. I could get shot just trying to get home. I wonder if any of those old cold war bunkers, people used to build back in the day, are still around. They might come in handy. I'm just kidding. We don't

2nd amendment?

I'm having a little bit of a panic attack. It just dawned on me that if the constitution is not enforceable anymore, I no longer have the right to bear arms. I know that may not seem like the most important thing to worry about but for us folks who hunt animals and shoot fish, it is a big deal. It may seem a little out there, but if I wanted control, I w

Deportation-What's to worry about!

I was going to go for a walk, but I didn't want to dig out my birth certificate. My dog has a foreign sounding name, and I've never really bothered to make sure my ancestors came here legally. I'm sure they did. At least that's what grandpa always maintained. But look, if you go back far enough nobody has the paperwork. If you're descended from the first Europeans to come across you absolutely don't have a claim to citizenship. You can't even argue

Even I might get to Heaven

When I was a kid, we went to church all the time. That doesn't mean there weren't other things to do. It just means I come from a rural area with small towns here and there, and each small town had a certain nationality and religious flavor. One of the towns was historically considered to be Dutch. The religion was Dutch Reformed. Another was predominately Catholic, but I don't recall if that community had a predominate national background. The small town that I lived n

Daylight Savings Time

It's fall. Early deer season is done. Regular deer season starts soon. Elk season follows in November. Halloween is a month away and then Thanksgiving. Oh, and daylight savings time ends on the 2nd of November. My only involvement with it has been not to forget to set the clocks back before I go to bed on Saturday night. The same responsibility I have in the spring for setting the clocks ahead one hour. I say clocks because we have an old windup clock in the house , as well a
